This map from 1811 shows a larger radius of the area around South Lambeth and Kennington. Although not very detailed it does illustrate the individual village and town-like qualities of this part of south London. The building of the first Vauxhall Bridge in 1816 and later the railway in 1848 did a lot to urbanise the area and do away with the fields and country lanes that had been there for so many centuries before.
