Tony Blair led Labour to general election victory on 2 May 1997. Mr Blair's first Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) took place on 21 May 1997. It was also the first time that PMQs was held in a new format, with the two 15-minute sessions held on a Tuesday and Thursday replaced by a single 30 minute session on a Wednesday. Presidents Note Quite simply the most successful Labour Primeminister ever and no one is likely to come close in the future. Without the huge stain of Iraq, it is unlikely his party would be out of office and his place in history will be forever tarnished. However his strength of vision and legacy can be seen even in his first PMQs as the new Prime Minister.
