This Ariel shot taken from the east (probably above the Purley Way) and looking west shows the layout of most of the original estate back in 1968. However, the layout and construction of the ‘Four Closes’ came later – the undeveloped area of land adjacent to the three enclosed courtyards of Avro Way (nearest) then Daimler Way and finally Defiant Way shows where the Closes will eventually be sited.
