The Real Black Face is a film featuring the students of the Upward Bound program at North Carolina A&T State University. It was written and directed by TaNisha Fordham. These students were willing, able and mature enough to share this modern day message about racism, stereotyping and the modern implications of blackface minstrelsy and vaudeville. Most people have never seen anyone, in person, in blackface makeup. These students, however, put the makeup on their peers and themselves and discussed the gravity of the matter. The film and its' supplemental short film are tremendous and represent well the power of the perspective of today's youth. These teens handled such tremendous content with such enormous poise.
