Film Biog: INCENSE Film Maker: Rani Moorthy RASA Productions Rani Moorthy Biography Malaysian born Rani came to Britain in 1996 after many years as an actress, writer and director in South East Asia. She created many leading roles in theatre and toured Asia and Australia. For TV she hosted and wrote her own comedy sketch show, The Ra Ra Show and wrote and acted in dramas by Singapore Broadcasting Corporation. She set up Rasa Productions in 1998 to create exciting original work in the UK. She wrote and performed her one woman show Pooja which toured the North West, Malaysia and had a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2002. In 2003 Pooja toured Sri Lanka under the British Council. She wrote Manchester United and the Malay Warrior, an international collaboration with a Malaysian theatre company Five Arts Centre, as part of Cultureshock, the cultural programme for the Commonwealth Games 2002. Acting credits include Coronation Street, A&E, Cold Feet, the BBC Film Entering the Blue Zone and Channel Four short film Dead Meat. She has written for BBC1’s Doctors, received a Film Council New Cinema Fund commission for her short film Incense and writes and presents Pause for Thought regularly on BBC Radio2. Her short film “Cupboard Love” was chosen Best of British at the “Bite the Mango” Festival and was shown at KINO and BLACK SCREEN film festivals. For more information email:- rani61@ntlworld.com
